PHC4 ELECTS NEW BOARD OFFICERS

Harrisburg, PA - July 7, 2011 - The Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council (PHC4) elected new officers to the Council‘s Executive Committee at its bimonthly meeting on July 7, 2011. Mr. Gene Barr, Vice President for Government and Public Affairs for the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, was named chairman, replacing Randall N. DiPalo, Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 520 (retired), who served in this position for the past two years.

PHC4 also elected a new vice-chairperson and treasurer. Frank Sirianni, President of the Pennsylvania Building and Construction Trades Council, was elected to serve as vice-chairperson, and David E. Black, President and CEO of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber and Capital Region Economic Development Corporation (CREDC), was named treasurer.

“I would like to congratulate our outstanding new leadership team,” said Joe Martin, Executive Director of PHC4. “I also want to thank our outgoing chairman, Randy DiPalo, for his role in furthering Pennsylvania as a leader in the public reporting of health care performance data.”

This month marks PHC4‘s 25th anniversary. The Pennsylvania General Assembly created PHC4 through legislation, which was signed into law by former Governor Richard Thornburgh on July 8, 1986.

Today, PHC4 is a nationally-recognized leader in the field of collecting, analyzing and reporting public health information. It is especially known for its innovative reporting on cardiac surgery outcomes, healthcare-associated infections and overall hospital performance.
