- In an effort to provide health care purchasers, providers and consumers with the most timely, up-to-date information possible, the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council (PHC4) releases Hospital Performance Report data every three months. Each quarterly release has one year of data embedded in the analysis, on a rolling quarterly basis. For each new release, the oldest quarter will be dropped off, and the newest quarter added to the analysis.
- The newest report includes hospital discharges between April 1, 2009 - March 31, 2010. For a complete description of the methodology used, click here to access the Technical Notes.
For specific information about the data included in the Spring Update, click here to access the Technical Notes Appendix - Spring document.
- Included in this report are the following measures: mortality rating, length of stay, length of stay outlier rate and rating, readmission rating for any reason, readmission rating for complication or infection, and average charge. Not all measures are appropriate for all procedure and treatment groups. Measures that are not suitable for a particular procedure or treatment group are not reported.
- Some reasons why a facility may not appear for a procedure/treatment group are: 1) not all facilities perform all procedures or treatments; 2) the facility had less than five cases within a specific procedure/treatment group; or 3) the facility submitted incomplete or unusable data.
- Note that not all counties in Pennsylvania have facilities (e.g., Snyder County).
- A download option is available at the bottom of each query result table to enable users to download the resulting query information in a CSV/ASCII delimited format that is compatible with most database systems and spreadsheets.
