What's In This Report
The Common Procedures Report released by the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council (PHC4) provides information about the performance and utilization of Pennsylvania acute care hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) for three common procedures: spinal fusion, total hip replacement, and total knee replacement. The Hospital Results section examines hospital ratings for complications and extended postoperative length of stay for inpatient hospitalizations. The total number of cases for the three procedures performed in hospitals and ASCs is displayed in the Volume Results section. Statewide trends and statistics are also examined, as well as Medicare payments for inpatient hospitalizations.
