Hospital Care in Pennsylvania: by county, name, and unit type

PHC4 produces several fact-based and transparent reports focused on care provided in hospitals, such as the Cardiac Procedures Report, the Financial Analysis Volumes One and Three, and the Hospital Performance Report. View PHC4’s Reports Library to read reports and access data about hospital care. Reports are categorized by report type and by publication year for convenience.

    Using MAPPED 2

MAPPED 2 allows you to filter out hospitals, ASCs, or nursing homes by the county they reside in, the name of the facility, or the selected data included in the visualization. For each map, you can either search or use the dropdown menu to add or remove facilities in specific counties or facilities that offer the selected data points. Filters can be stacked allowing you to search for the type of care you need in the location you want. Hovering over the map brings up a toolbar on the left side. The toolbar enables you to zoom in and out, pin the current scale, and select between a couple different tools. By default the pan tool is selected, but you can change this by using the right-facing triangle to change your tool type. Using one of the multi-select tools to select multiple facilities allows quick understanding of the services in a region. Hovering over or clicking on a facility dot will bring up selected information for that facility. To reset the visualization, select the horizontal U-turn arrow with the vertical line located along the bottom bar of each visualization.

    About MAPPED 2

MAPPED 2 uses data files published by the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) to highlight the locations and availability of different units, specialties, or services by facility type. PHC4 and DOH share data with each other regularly in the pursuit of different health care goals. This latest collaboration seeks to aid the public in providing an easy-to-understand tool for finding where certain types of care are available.
